Cheshire Cup games are featured on this site from the point that we dropped into non-league. “My Rules” explain why. They always provided for a diversion from the league programme and gave the opportunity to see a handful of up and coming youngsters mixed in with some first team regulars. This game was an entertaining one, and Barnton certainly gave more than good account of themselves. With only 7 minutes to go it was 2-2, before Harry Brazel gave County the lead. Interestingly, 12 months previously Brazel had featured in the same competition for Winsford United against us. he was simply outstanding that evening, and within days Jim Gannon had signed him, and he made a county debut coming on as a sub against Darlington a week later.
