NEW GROUNDS

The 2010’s took me to places I had heard of, but only by virtue of a long standing interest in non-league football. Having grown up in the area which became Tameside under the Local Government reorganisation of 1974 the opportunities to see any one of half a dozen teams within a couple of miles of my home meant I had seen many of the teams that I was to come across in the 2010’s. But never in a million years did I ever think that we would travel to and meet them in league competition. However, the biblical scale mismanagement of the Club lead us to not only taste the Conference National but subsequently regional football in the Conference North.
I came in to the decade having seen us play at 120 different grounds. The next 10 years were to bring 59 more, and involved 202 trips. I was a virtual ever-present until the early months of 2017, when my health problems surfaced and attendance since then at anywhere far flung has been on the sporadic side.
The table below shows where the 59 new grounds in the 2010’s were; the date of the first visit; the opponents, (and in some cases I have seen us play more than one club at the venue) and the number of ‘County games’ seen at that ground over the years.
