Trips to Kellemergh Park always involved route march. A ground in the middle of nowhere, which presumably was previously, and not too long before, a farmers field. Access off a country lane meant that parking was literally over a mile away. I’d never had too much time for them, and to be frank still don’t. A vanity project; bankrolled; with no history or tradition, and the owner and his board colleagues with no class, as their behaviour in the Directors Box at Edgeley Park bore witness. The game I’ve selected was on August Bank Holiday in 2015. We had previously shared two goalless draws, so a 3-2 win, courtesy of an injury time winner from Jake Kirby provided an more enjoyable hike back to the car than had previously been the case.
There were a fair few connections in the line-ups. Featuring in the Coasters team were Ben Hinchliffe, a fixture in the County team for some years now, Richie Baker, who had moved to the costs over the summer, Danny L Rowe, at that point starting off on what was to be a very productive time and Danny Lloyd, a future fans favourite at EP. Lewis Montrose, a key part of the County team from 2015-17, also moved to Fylde a couple of years later.
