Banana skins weren’t uncommon in the FA Cup in the 70’s and 80’s. Stafford; Grantham, Blyth and Telford come readily to mind and there was another one at Caernarfon in November 1986. Melia had departed 12 days previously and the game in North Wales the first of Murphy’s second coming. It was an afternoon of humiliation on the pitch; and some lively crowd behaviour off it.
